Cyclestreets.net is a brilliant little website for bicyclists. Just enter where you are and where you want to go and it will take you a proper cyclists route, tell you the distance, how quiet or otherwiseit will be and how many calories you will burn completing it.
This is extraordinary. You can actually choose a route to avoid unnecessary hills. Excellent for the part-time cyclist!

Bicycle Shops or Bicycle Accessories Outlets or Cycle Repairers

Warlands Ltd

63 Botley Rd, Oxford OX2 0BS, UK – 01865 723100

I cannot praise the chaps at Warlands highly enough. Steve and his team were brilliant with me as I took so long to decide finally to buy a Brompton, hindered by my own insecurities and old injuries. They couldn't have been more patient, kind and knowledgeable and now I'm the proud owner of a Turkish Green M6L and loving it. I would thoroughly recommend Warlands without hesitation.

I always receive excellent service here; particularly this morning stopping by with a small issue with bike brakes. They were able to (successfully) apply a quick fix there and then with no fuss. Would always recommend

Broken Spoke Bike Co-op

St Thomas School, Osney Ln, Oxford OX1 1NJ, UK – 01865 807753

I had a fantastic experience here. It was my first time in a bike workshop like this where the mechanics (men and women) helped me understand what was wrong with my bike and how to repair it, which I then went on to do myself with constant help along the way. Ali was a brilliant guide and also a lot of fun to work with. Thanks to Sam as well! Can you tell me where I can find a place like this in London? Cheers guys and see you in September when I'll replace my chain! ;)

Not enough staff, I was left on my own a lot with little idea of what I was doing. An explanation of what the bike needed at the start would be really helpful. I went in expecting to replace a tyre in about half an hour, and in the end spent 3 hours and £70. I did learn some skills, but for that I could have bought a new bike!? Great idea, needs more staff and a clearer explanation.

Bike Zone

28-32 St Michael's St, Oxford OX1 2EB, UK – 01865 728877

Great bike shop in the centre of town, I've only made minor purchases from the shop and the guys have carried out some minor tune up work on one of my bikes, so I can't speak for after purchase care on bikes. They are always willing to take the time to help and offer advice even when it doesn't end in a purchase which I really value. Overall recommended.

Really helpful staff, a terribly stuck part had bogged down my home-repair for hours and these guys got it loose in 5 minutes! Sometimes I guess it's best to leave it to the pros. Thank you so much!

Cycle Hire

Bainton Bikes

78 Walton St, Oxford OX2 6EA, UK – 01865 311610

We booked a 3hour tour through Oxford (21 £ per person), and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Our tour guide was Rich, a great guy who knows the area inside out. He is from the are and shares many interesting stories and details, with pub recommendations. He has a real sense of humou. In a short period we feel we got to know Oxford. The bikes were excellent (being Dutch we think we know a good bike when we see one). We can recommend this tour to anyone.

We booked a bike tour and had a great time. The guide was friendly and informative and the price was good. I recommend the bike tour 5 stars.

Summertown Cycles

200-202 Banbury Rd, Oxford OX2 7BY, UK – 01865 316885

Thanks for fixing my puncture today! So quick and very friendly staff and good value! Very pleased customer thanks :-)

Brought a wheel in to have several spokes replaced and the wheel trued, almost a complete rebuild of the wheel. Price for the service was very reasonable and clearly laid out. Later brought in another wheel with a seized cassette locking ring, which I couldn't budge with my tools, try as I might, and they had a go at it there and then, despite having other jobs on the go. They managed to free the seized part on the spot and didn't charge me for it. Excellent service! A polite and friendly team, who seem equally at home helping novices and more knowledgeable customers.
