One of my favourite restaurants in Oxford. You need to book as its always busy. As its busy and quite crowded it can be noisy. Food in general is excellent and portions good. Mussell starter good, can also be had as main course. House red really good to my taste and not too ridiculously priced!

Excellent food, large enough choice to fit all tastes. All tastes fresh and expertly prepared. Attentive staff even in a rush. Book in advance as very busy on popular nights.

Jimbob's Baguettes

19 Magdalen St, Oxford OX1 3AE, UK – 01865 245549

Lovely place. Nice music. Helpful staff. Super comfy sofas. And I love the art in this place. Very cique.

Amazing little shop, a real one off quirky place. Lovely paninis, great music, friendly staff and perfect coffee. 5/5 👌

74 Cowley Rd, Oxford OX4 1JB, UK – 01865 792777

Fantastic tapas and drinks and great service. Not the cheapest place in Cowley for sure, but well worth the price. It’s a good idea to book a table, as we rocked up at 6pm on a Saturday and were only able to get bar seats (which were still nice, and we got to chat to the charming bartender). A must visit in Cowley if you’re into tapas!

We discovered this restaurant today and where immediately taken by the atmosphere, the food, the whole concept. Tapas are prepared freshly in the kitchen by the bar, before your eyes. You can see and feel the love and dedication the guys cooking and running the place put into each plate. And man can you taste it. The place breaths gastronomical freedom. You are not confronted with a menu where you have to make your choice and bum, like in other places. Here you can pick little tasty plates whenever you want, look chose, ask and enjoy. It's just great.

Best Reviewed Indian Restaurants and Takeaways in Jericho Playgroup or in Oxford area

4500 Miles From Delhi

Park Central, 40 Park End St, Oxford OX1 1JD, UK – 01865 244922

Great staff and food. Kebabs where nice and spicy. Mains where lovely, food was cooked to the right depth of flavour. Probably the best Indian i have had in Oxford. Will definitely visit again.

Chicken korma for those who like mild spicy creamy food is the best I ever tried. So great you can't stop eating. But even "mild" dishes are still spicy a little and have chili in them.

Spice Lounge

193 Banbury Rd, Oxford OX2 7AR, UK – 01865 510071

Nice clean modern restaurant, friendly efficient service and the food was really delicious. Not the cheapest but overall value for money. Recommended.

Revisited, finally, after my first visit in 2008! Exceptional food and great service.

Chutneys Indian Brasserie

36 St Michael's St, Oxford OX1 2EB, UK – 01865 724241

Brilliant food. Very tasty. Right amount. Good staff. Cosy place.

The food was really good and definitely authentic! I suggest asking for recommendations because that is what we did and the food that they brought was better than what we would’ve got on our own.

Best Reviewed Italian Pasta and Pizza Restaurants

Jamie's Italian Oxford

24-26 George St, Oxford OX1 2AE, UK – 01865 838383

Another fabulous family meal. The waiter had our girls all laughing and we enjoyed the delicious food. Can't fault how friendly and helpful the staff all are. Very knowledgeable about the food. Benefitted from a free bottle of wine on special offer too, which was a nice bonus. Thanks!

When you go into a restaurant like Jamie's Italian, you expect it to be top notch. Nevertheless this wasn't what were presented, the acoustics in the restaurant is terrible, you almost have to shout at your family/freinds because it is so noisy in there. The food isn't very good as well. I personally ordered a classic burger. The burger was very bland. The beef was cooked to the absolute maximum. It was dry and felt plastic like. It had no salat and was very boring in colour, not very well represented. If you are looking for a nice place to eat, I would not recommend this place because the food is not worth the price you are paying.

59 George St, Oxford OX1 2BE, UK – 01865 202993

Went here as we had a voucher and was really pleasantly surprised. Me and my partner are both vegan and were incredibly pleased with the great options with a separate menu, including a great choice of desserts. Very polite and friendly staff in this branch and it isn't often that busy. Right opposite the cinema and theatre as well.

We had the special offer menu so restricted choice but good value for money. £15.95 for three courses. Good friendly service and pretty quick.

ASK Italian

5 George St, Oxford OX1 2AT, UK – 01865 806766

Great Lunch! Had a last minute lunch with friends. Didn't make a reservation just walked in, plenty of tables. Good choice on the menu for gluten free and vegans. Great service and food came out quickly. Yes it's a chain, there is good and bad in every chain and this is a good one.

Really good, cheap n cheerful, Italian in central Oxford. Good pizza and pasta, healthy sized portions. Great kids menu including gut busting ice cream sundae for afters. Seemed we'll run as well, our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful.

The House

Wheatsheaf Yard, 11 Blue Boar St, Oxford OX1 4EE, UK – 01865 724433

Probably my favourite cocktail bar in Oxford. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. If you can visit in their happy hour then the drinks are good value compared to elsewhere in Oxford. Upstairs they have a pool table and board games. Definitely worth a visit as a couple or a small group.

I visited today the house and the two bartender behind the bar they were so friendly and the service was really good ! happy hour till 9 and the cocktails for £5 !! Definitely I will back soon !

All Bar One Oxford

124 High St, Oxford OX1 4DF, UK – 01865 791696

Had one saviour working the bar by herself, the missus had ordered food moments before me and by the time I could order there was a 45 minute wait, but then when we asked for a refund to leave we were told there was no wait anymore. We ended up eating at separate times. But the food was good and that barmaid really was a hero.

It may be a chain, but it's certainly one that has improved over recent years. This place is no exception, even if a tall waitress who served us was a tad cold, especially the 'tapas' part of the menu - absolutely excellent selection. Recommended.

Raoul's Bar and Liquor Store

32 Walton St, Oxford OX2 6AA, UK – 01865 553732

Really great place! The cocktail menu is amazing and you can download it on there website. Loads of choice and delicious to drink. They sell a few other things here such as glasses and shakers. There are male and female toilets for customers. The music can be load and not loads of seating but well worth the visit! No disabled access though unfortunately.

If I could give this 10 stars I would! Stayed there the whole night and we tried basically all of their cocktails! Great range of drinks and fun atmosphere. Bartenders were extremely nice!

Oxford Chinese Restaurants

6-9 Hythe Bridge St, Oxford OX1 2EW, UK – 01865 202888

Excellent service delicious food. Toilets need improving.

Great dim sum and excellent service. Can be really busy but it's one of the best Chinese in Oxford, so no surprise there.

Cafe Orient

170 Cowley Rd, Oxford OX4 1UE, UK – 01865 248158

The food certainly seems authentically Chinese (might not match a western pallete) but prices are unreasonable and still cash only, really?

This is my favourite Chinese restaurant I've ever been too. Food is incredible. Fantastic variety of amazing dishes, many I've never heard of. All are exploding with flavour. The homemade noodles are amazing. If you want authentic Chinese Food, this is the place. Service is also great!

Red Star Noodle Bar

187A Cowley Rd, Oxford OX4 1UT, UK – 01865 251248

Excellent service, me and my partner are visiting oxford for one night and decided to try the red star. It’s clean, organised and with a simple yet beautiful design. The dishes were fantastic with a super fast service. We had the seaweed duck rolls, chicken ramen and a delicious rice dish. Very nice atmosphere with great attention to detail. Desserts are not offered but there is a great plum wine, which gives a sweet finish to a great meal. The bill is presented with some jelly beans. Will definitely be returning the next time we are in the area.

Excellent food. Nice informal environment and very well priced. Don't forget to get cash they don't take cards.

Oxford Vegetarian or Vegan Restaurants

Banana Tree Oxford

63 George St, Oxford OX1 2BQ, UK – 01865 200685

Pan Asian cuisine has always been a favourite of mine, especially spicy and hot Thai cuisine. During my stay in Oxford, London, I found an amazing restaurant called Banana Tree, which serves authentic Thai dishes. The presentation of food in this Thai restaurant in Oxford needs to be truly lauded, along with the amazing tastes and flavours. Excellent service is also offered by the staff of the restaurant. I highly recommend this place if you are a lover of Pan-Asian food!

Been a few times and the food is always excellent. I don't think there's anything similar in oxford. Lots of seating, usually packed with a small but quick queue.

Chiang Mai Kitchen

130A High St, Oxford OX1 4DH, UK – 01865 202233

Good restaurant and friendly staff. The food description could be better, since we got a very sweet dish and there was no mention of it in the menu.

The red Phanaeng curry (#50) with beef is SO GOOD. I had it with the coconut rice and it was amazing. The service isn't the best (we had to ask for water a lot) but they were super accommodating since we came in with a group of like 20 people without a reservation and they got us a table within 10 minutes.

Quod Restaurant & Bar

92-94 High St, Oxford OX1 4BJ, UK – 01865 202505

Visited Quod last night with a group of friends. Didn’t know quite what to expect as it was my first time but was pleasantly surprised my the warm welcome we received on arrival. Even though our table was booked for 7:15 and we had a couple of late comers our waiter was very patient and we weren’t rushed. It was a lively atmosphere with a pianist playing a selection of jazz in the background which was lovely but not intrusive. I ordered the fish pie which was very tasty and the portions was surprisingly very large and the prices very reasonable. Would definitely recommend it to friends and family and will definitely be going back. Can’t wait for my next visit.

This is an exceptionally good brasserie style restaurant right in the heart of historic Oxford. Vast expanses of modern art adorn the walls. The menu offers classical British and Continental fare. We were happy with our salad, seafood and (kid's) pizza dishes and I thought the prices were reasonable. The outstanding feature of this establishment was the service. Although quite busy, we were greeted almost immediately upon entering, and there always seemed to be a waiter attending to us the moment we needed anything. The atmosphere is lively but relaxed - with a buzz of chatter that fills the air - and it never seemed too crowded or noisy The bar is right in the middle of the restaurant. The courtyard at the back is a haven of tranquility and offers views of towers and spires. It's always good when your guests walk out happier than when they walk in. I am very surprised by the average rating on Google and if I had paid attention to it, we might have missed out on a pleasant, memorable evening.

Eagle and Child

49 St Giles', Oxford OX1 3LU, UK – 01865 302925

A must see place if you are visiting Oxford. The food is lovely, the staff are nice and it was an incredible experience for me to be in the place where J.R.R Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and the Inklings were spending a lot of time discussing the topics of the world, like true hobbits! The place is full of hidden gems and "Easter eggs" for the fans of the two great writers! Try and find as many as you can! Although it gets quite busy, the service is good and quick. I always visit this place when I'm in Oxford!

Despite this being a bit touristy, this pub is fantastic! It's quaint and cozy, with the old pub feel I adore. The staff was friendly enough, and the fish finger sandwich is enormous and delicious. I love to come here whenever I'm in town!

The Four Candles

51–53 George St, Oxford OX1 2BE, UK – 01865 263110

Good inexpensive food. Variety on menu. Quick service. Friendly staff. Good for Vegetarians & Vegans. Also does gluten-free

I would give it 3 and a half but can't because google. The ales are super cheap for pub drinks. I had the steak, it was good but should have asked for medium rare rather than rare. Staff ok, a bit short and I overheard a bit of bitching between staff about other staff behind their backs - some whispering and covering of mouths. That's not very professional ladies. It seems a lot bigger than it actually is. There are 2 floors but one is mezzanine. The place looks like it was an old theatre or something. At lunch it gets very busy with the clientele fighting for chairs. The location is awesome and it's preferable to the Swan and Castle (although the later is currently having a mini refit so fingers crossed it will have improved markedly when it reopens).

The Duke Of Cambridge

5-6 Little Clarendon St, Oxford OX1 2HP, UK – 01865 558173

Excellent prices, especially for students. Delicious cocktails and very good service. Nice atmosphere

Simply the best cocktail bar in Oxford as far as I am concerned. Proper cocktails made properly. That does come with a price tag; £8 and up in most cases but you get what you pay for! If your looking for early evening drinks then you can get the same great drinks at half the price (I think some drinks are excluded) during their happy hour (which is much more than an hour: 4pm to 7.30pm Friday and Saturday, 4pm to 9pm Sunday to Thursday). Unsurprisingly it gets particularly busy at happy hour. Highly recommended.
